Terms of service
The short version: be 13 or older, get a parent's OK if you're under 18, one account per person, cancel any time, and AI marks are a guide, not an official grade.
1. Who we are
ExamSpine (examspine.com) is an independent revision site run from Ontario, Canada (“ExamSpine”, “we”, “us”). These terms apply to anyone who uses the site or our emails (“you”). By making an account or using ExamSpine, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use ExamSpine.
2. Not part of the IB or any exam board
ExamSpine is not part of, endorsed by, or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organization, Cambridge International, or any other exam board. Their names are used only to say which courses our material helps with. Every question, mark scheme and explanation here is written by us, and exam boards do not check it.
3. Age and parents
- You must be 13 or older to make an account. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we close it and delete its data.
- If you are 13 to 17, you need a parent or guardian's permission. By ticking the box when you sign up, you confirm you have it.
- Only an adult (18 or over, or the age of adulthood where you live) can buy a paid plan. A student can send a pay link to a parent, and the parent pays.
- A parent who lets their child use ExamSpine, or pays for their plan, accepts these terms for them.
4. Your account
- Use an email address you can open. We sign you in with emailed links and codes, so keep that inbox safe.
- One account is for one person. Don't share your login or your paid plan. Group and school plans give each student their own account.
- You can delete your account at any time on your account page, or by emailing us.
5. Your data
We keep the minimum we need: your email, your progress, your email choices, and, if a friend's link brought you here, whose link it was. We never sell your data, never show ads, and never use ad trackers. Delete your account and it is gone. Questions about your data go to hello@examspine.com.
6. Free and paid plans
Some lessons, questions and AI marks are free. What's free can change, and the site shows the current limits. Paid plans and prices are shown before you pay. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until you cancel. An exam pass is one payment and does not renew.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe's Link service is the seller of record, so your receipt may name Link or Stripe, and Stripe works out and collects any sales tax or VAT. Link's own terms also apply to the payment. If a price goes up, we email you at least 30 days before it applies to you.
7. Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel any time on your account page. You keep your paid plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move to the free plan. Your progress stays.
- Payments are non-refundable, including renewals, exam passes and partly used periods.
- We do refund our own mistakes, such as charging you twice.
- If the law where you live gives you a right to cancel or get a refund (for example a cooling-off period), you keep that right. Nothing here takes it away.
8. Invite-a-friend rewards
When we run a referral offer, its rules are shown on the invite page. Rewards are free time on a paid plan, have no cash value, and can be removed if they come from fake accounts or inviting yourself.
9. AI marking and hints
- AI marks and hints are an estimate to help you practise. They can be wrong, they are not official marks, and they don't predict your grade. Check against the mark scheme and ask a teacher when it matters.
- Photos of your work are used only to mark that answer. Please keep faces and other people's details out of them.
- We never use your answers or photos to train AI models, and our AI providers may not either.
- We may limit how many AI marks you can use, to keep ExamSpine fair and affordable.
10. Using ExamSpine fairly
Please don't:
- copy, resell or post our questions, notes or mark schemes anywhere else;
- scrape the site, use bots, or use our content to train AI;
- get around paywalls, limits or sign-in;
- upload anything illegal, hateful or sexual, or anything that isn't yours to share;
- try to hack, overload or break the site;
- pretend to be someone else, or make extra accounts to collect rewards.
Teachers may use our pages in their own lessons, as long as they link to us and don't charge for them.
11. Who owns what
Everything we make (questions, lessons, explanations, code, design and the ExamSpine name) belongs to ExamSpine. You may use it for your own studying while you have an account. Your answers and photos stay yours: you let us store and use them only to run ExamSpine for you. If you send us ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
12. Accuracy and results
We work hard to keep everything correct and matched to the current syllabus, but mistakes can happen. ExamSpine is a study aid and does not promise any grade. Spot a mistake? Tell us and we'll fix it.
13. Changes, downtime and closing accounts
We may add, change or remove features, and the site may sometimes be down for maintenance. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where we can, we warn you first and explain why. If we close your account for breaking these terms, unused paid time is not refunded.
14. Limits on our liability
ExamSpine is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses (such as exam results or missed opportunities), and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CA$50 if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If something goes wrong, email us first and we'll try to fix it within 30 days. If we can't, the courts of Ontario can decide, but if you are a consumer you can also use the courts where you live.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For an important change, we email account holders and show a notice on the site at least 14 days before it starts. If you keep using ExamSpine after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.
